Automated Reversals
Powered by our exclusive processing logic, non-dispensed approvals are automatically reversed back to the cardholder's account. With the Automated Reversals feature enabled, you will never have to waste time requesting manual reversals.

Automated Reversal Opt-In Program
The way the Automated Reversal solution works is that when a transaction comes through, the Status Monitoring (SM) message that comes in with it, tells us how many bills are in each cassette prior to that withdrawal. If that count is not less than the previous transaction, by the amount of that previous transaction, AND the previous transaction occurred within 12 hours of the current transaction, the previous transaction is reversed. This saves the ATM operator in Network RegE fees as well as time and money spent retrieving journals for a failed dispense.
Cash Load Procedures
Please follow the following cash load procedures, otherwise, it will result in the last transaction before a cash load, getting auto reversed despite having been a good dispense. The terminal must communicate to Switch Commerce both before and after a cash load to relay the last transaction, the old balance, and the new balance.
- Day Total or Trial Day Total Sends Switch Commerce a message containing the current bill count before the cash load (Ending Balance)
- Cassette Total
- Add Cash
- Trial Day Total Sends Switch Commerce a message containing the [NEW] bill count after the cash load (New Balance)
Performing a terminal reboot will communicate to Switch Commerce in order to bring the terminal back into service; however, this can not be used as a method to stimulate an auto reversal. Switch Commerce only does auto-reversal checks on transactions; therefore, a second transaction following the failed transaction is required in order to prompt the auto reversal.

Had this terminal not been Opted-In to the Automated Reversal Program, the upset cardholder would have had to file a claim with their bank. The Network would then pass on a $30.00+ RegE Processing Fee to the merchant. If the Issuer does not provide the cardholder with provisional credit, the cardholder is out of the $200.00 for up to forty-five days while the case is under investigation. The cardholder is then having to make phone calls to check on the status of the claim to see when it is that they can expect to receive their money. In the meantime, the merchant is having to schedule a time to get out to the terminal within the two-week timeframe to retrieve the journals. The Automated Reversal Opt-In Program takes away all of this frustration and saves you time and money.
